Top 10 World’s Deadliest Animals
In this world of great diversity, the animal world provides a wide array of beautiful animals, reptiles, amphibians and even single cell creatures. As beautiful as the animals of this world are, there are also those can kill quite efficiently, easily, and quickly. These animals have been equipped with special weapons, toxins, and tactics to protect them from being prey of other animals. However, they also pose a serious threat to humans as their paths cross. To help you in our excursions out and about here is a list of the Top 10 World’s Deadliest Animals.
1. Inland Tiapan or Fierce Snake
This snake carries enough venom in it to kill 100 full grown men. The toxicity of this snake is even 750 times more than that of the deadly black cobra. It is commonly found in Australia along the southern borders of the Northeast Territories and into the state of Queensland. They are found along the banks of rivers, on open plains, or anywhere else they can burrow into a nice cool hole. Black in color, they are rather shy, but will strike with incredible speed and strength at whatever may threaten it.
2. The Mosquito
In a list of the world’s deadliest animals you might not think to include the mosquito. However, in all of the world there is no other animal that contributes directly to more deaths than this small insect. Normally a mosquito is an annoyance that leaves welts when they bite. Some people are allergic to their bites and can have sever reactions. But, the over 70 million people die worldwide through the way that the mosquito transfers bacteria and viruses from person to person. Going into the outdoors? Make sure you bring some insect repellant!
3. Box Jelly Fish
A wonder of creation, the box jellyfish is also a killer. Looking a bit like an upside down salad bowl, the box jellyfish has enough toxin in its 15 foot tentacles to easily kill 50 adults. Gliding effortlessly through the ocean they are quite hard to spot as they are mostly transparent. A swimmer that even gently bumps into this creature can be killed quite easily. Since the early 1980′s almost 6,000 swimmers have lost their life to this beautiful, but deadly sea creature.
4. Hippo
.
A large animal that lives in and out of water, this mammal is also referred to as an amphibian. The hippopotamus is found in the continent of Africa along the edges of rivers and large bodies of water. It is fiercely territorial and is known to charge anything that comes into its path. They are mostly herbivorous, but have been known to eat meat when the need arises. Their jaws are their main weapon, and with several thousand pounds of pressure per square inch, it is easy to see why many other animals give the hippo a wide berth.
5. Saltwater Crocodile
A reptile that has been developing for thousands of years, the saltwater crocodile is stealthy, fast, and voracious in its killing style. This crocodile, the largest of the species, is found in the continents of Asia, Africa and Australia along salt water rivers and marshes. The powerful jaws, the smashing tail, and the power it exudes are all formidable as it starts the attack. Taking large animals like water buffalo or zebra is light work for this powerful reptile.
6. Elephants
Finding yourself in the path of a rampaging elephant is definitely not the place you want to find yourself. Massive animals that can weight as much as 16 tons, a raging elephant instantly turns into one of the most deadliest animals on the planet. Mostly found in Africa and Asia, this gently giant turns deadly every few years during a full moon. They have been known to kill as many as 600 people per year. Their entire mass, power, and large tusks can make very short work of anything standing in its way.
7. Great White Shark
Probably the most famous movie star in the ocean, the Great White Shark is the most efficient killing machine on the earth. As it glides through the world’s oceans it commands respect from anything in its path. Growing up to 20 feet in length, and in some cases even larger, this shark is efficient in the way it stalks, kills, and continues on for more. This shark can smell a tiny drop of blood in the water from up to 50 miles away, home in on it and devour whatever it is from. Blood is the driving force of this fish and creates an excitement that causes incredible frenzies and airborne acrobatics.
8. The Cape Buffalo
In all of Africa, there is no other animal that kills more people than the cape buffalo. With sheer size and razor sharp horns, the cape buffalo will lower its head and charge at anything it deems a threat. That usually means man. Being the only predator of the cape buffalo, over 800 people each year are mauled and killed by the cape buffalo.
9. African Lion
Often dubbed the “King of the Jungle”, the African Lion actually spends most of its time lounging on the plains of Africa. Resting for up to 20 hours a day, the deadly lion is mostly unseen until it pounces on its prey. Large cats that can weigh up to 300 pounds, this King definitely is the top of the food chain on the plains. An estimated 800 people are killed by this cat each year as civilization creeps in on its territory.
10. The Polar Bear
As lovable as they look, the Polar Bear is one of the most ferocious animals on this earth. Roaming the Arctic areas for seals, fish, and anything else it can get its massive paws around, the polar bear will not hesitate to charge a human if close, especially when there are cubs around. As endangered as they are, the polar bear is not one to go without a fight. Most human casualties with this bear are those who are trying to hunt this creature, but in turn become the hunted.
As you can see, the world’s animals are not without their own defensive mechanisms. While there are plenty of animals that can kill human beings, and do, these are the top 10 world’s deadliest animals.
